Abstract

Abstract

The carbon content in the conservation areas of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León was estimated. A forest inventory of 80 sampling sites was established, measuring the height and diameter of trees and shrubs. The pine-oak forest in Iturbide has the highest value of carbon content with 53.52 ton/ha, followed by the submontane scrub of Monterrey with 24.60 ton/ha and the Tamaulipan thornscrub of Linares and Marín, with 20.16 and 15.84 ton/ha, respectively. In total, 73,441.56 tons of carbon are stocked, which is equivalent to 269,530.52 tons of CO₂e.
